The Little Boy Who Was Precious by Reagan Chesnut

Did the plot pull you in or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book? This is a short story which is best suited for a young family or for a child who is learning about family roles. It was a smooth read and I never felt forced to read the book.

Did the actions of the characters seem plausible? Extremely plausible as the book touches on fear and imagination. It’s okay to be scared or sad but you need courage to face up to your fears. My favourite scene in the book was when Grandpa says, "if you do not fear the beasts of your vast imagination, with all of the powers they posses, then I do not know what there is in this simple world for you to fear. You are brave. You are the bravest person I know in the world.”

Did you feel you were experiencing the time and place in which the book was set? Yes, I felt what the little boy was feeling. I also think this would be a good book to use in schools or nurseries as well as parenting groups.
